Pilates, by Simply Symmetria
At Simply Symmetria you will experience Pilates like no other. Pilates instructor, Beth Hynes is a classically trained graduate of The Pilates Center Teacher Training Program from Boulder, CO. This program is one of the most respected, comprehensive, and intensive Teacher Training Programs in the world.
Not only are trainees required to complete 950+ hours of lectures, observation, as well as practical experience; they are also required to perform the full level 5 repertoire in both mat and reformer in order to graduate the program.
This intensive training provides far more than what is required to be an instructor, it teaches deep body knowledge and awareness which allows the instructor to have an exceptional ability at coaching and cuing correct positioning. Beth is passionate about assisting clients in achieving a healthier life, and witnessing them ‘Return to Life’ through Pilates movement.
As many people think Classical Pilates promotes a flat back, it does not! We are sure if Joe were still alive, he would shudder at the thought. We believe that he may have instructed the odd client to flatten an over arched back, but never intended the low back to be pressed into the floor.
About Pilates “Contrology”
Joseph Pilates called his method “Contrology”, because he believed his method uses the mind to control the muscles. The program focuses on the core postural muscles which help keep the body balanced and which are essential to providing support for the spine.
Pilates stimulates circulation through facilitating muscular flexibility, joint range of motion and proper musculoskeletal alignment. In addition, it promotes new neuromuscular patterns, heightened body awareness, and more precise coordination. All of these things combine to help prevent future re-injury and reduce – even in some cases alleviate – chronic pain altogether.
The comprehensive integration of body mind and spirit, Joseph Pilates was a firm advocate of quality over quantity with regard to exercise. He was looking for efficiency in movement. Each movement had to be accomplished with full attention and done smoothly with control.
